Museum of Debugging and Memory Dumps

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Looks like reading Darwin biography influenced me in the direction of founding a museum. So I did and here’s its draft logo:

This multi-dimensional museum will show exhibitions dedicated to the history of debugging, memory dump artifacts and art. Stay tuned. The first exhibition opens very soon.

If you would like to donate an exhibit (for example, an old memory dump or a picture related to debugging) please use this page: http://www.dumpanalysis.org/contact. Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Ana-Trace-Log-Lyzer and Closed Session

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

This paleodebugging tool was excavated from Central Russia (thanks to Mr. Kutuzov) and generously provided for a photo session by its owner Mr. Mansour:

It also inspired this sequence of strcat: Analog -> Anatrace -> Analyzer -> Tracelyzer -> Loglyzer.

… enough tracing. It’s time to close our session:

… what is left? If you are curious, look at this conceptual picture:

If you wonder what electricity has to do with tracing (at a metaphorical level) look at this trace analysis pattern:

Memorianic Ritual: Lunch with Books

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

A few have probably noticed (following numerous Twitter updates) my preference for combining lunches with book and  magazine (a mini-book) reading (also combined with Mod N reading system). From now on this activity obtains the status of a ritual in Memorianity and depicted on this physicalist art picture (the choice of book titles is arbitrary and fully coincidental for this post):

Memory Dump and Minidumps

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Welcome to Physicalist Art that has its foundation in Physicalism. The first physicalist composition was on display today and I took a picture of it (weather condition was not good):

Material: blue agate

It was originally called “Blue in a gate: memory dump and minidumps”. I plan to reinstall it again with more elaborate surroundings.

The First Computer Memory Visualization Book

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Finally previously announced full-color coffee table book is on sale:

DLL List Landscape: The Art from Computer Memory Space

Buy from Amazon

Memory Dump Analysis Anthology, Volume 1 and Volume 2 have numerous articles related to computer memory visualization techniques using Dump2Picture and Microsoft debugger WinDbg.

I’m also working on Computer Memory Visualization book together with Jamie Fenton that was originally conceived as a coffee table book for general readers but now becomes more software engineering and science oriented the more I work on it. Coffee table status now comes to DLL List Landscape book.
