This opening is for Research Scientist position in the Anti-Malware Operations of McAfee Labs. Primary Responsibilities:

1. Researching and analyzing a wide array of different malware and file formats.
2. Adding detection and repair as necessary for integration into the McAfee antivirus product line
3. Authoring descriptions for inclusion into the McAfee Virus Information Library website.
4. Performing peer reviews of code for release into production.
5. Self-motivated with the ability to stretch in times of crisis around virus outbreaks.

Experience & Qualifications

1. Familiarity with one or more programming languages: C#, VB.NET, C++, VB, PERL, JAVA, JS, VBS.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
3. x86 assembly skills
4. Experience with SoftIce or equivalent system-level debuggers
5. Experience with IDA or equivalent disassembly tools
6. Experience in malicious code analysis and reverse engineering (RE)
7. Knowledge of various files formats (eg. PE, ELF) and operating systems (eg. Win32, Linux, MacOS)
8. Knowledge of networking and internet protocols (eg. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP)
9. Education: Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or scientific discipline)
10. Experience: 2-5 years in anti-malware research or related security experience
